Your Committee on Planning, to which was referred Communication No. 609, reports as follows:
Communication No. 609, submitted by Mayor William P. Kenoi dated December 15, 2015, nominates
Ann Kern to the Kailua Village Design Commission for a three-year term to expire December 31, 2018.
Ms. Kern was confirmed to serve on the commission in January 2015 to fill the remainder of a term
ending on December 31, 2015. Pursuant to Section 13-4(c) of the Hawai`i County Charter, Ms. Kern is
eligible to succeed herself, as she has been appointed for a term of"two years or less."
Charmaine Shigemura, Executive Assistant to Mayor Kenoi, introduced Ms. Kern, who was not able to
attend this meeting. Mr. Ilagan and Mr. Kanuha requested that she be present for Council confirmation.
Your Committee on Planning is in accord with the purpose and intent of Communication No. 609, and
recommends confirmation of the appointment of Ann Kern to the Kailua Village Design Commission.
