SUBJECT: Police Department Discussion
I request 90 minutes to allow for a discussion regarding issues of public concent and interest.
The discussion will include Police Chief Kubojiri and or his designees. Topics will include
but not be limited to:
1) The systems in place for training the police force to address any potential terroristic
incident, including training for an "active shooter" incident;
2) The systems in place to ensure that confiscated drugs are properly handled so that they
do not resurface in the community;
3) The systems in place to ensure that internal and community complaints- about
excessive force or other potential abuses are properly addressed;
4) The systems in place to ensure that the department's efforts to address drug abuse are
carried out in a manner that does not disrupt the medical marijuana caregiver program;
5) The systems in place for coordination with Neighborhood Watch groups to reduce
crime in local communities:
6) "Ilse systems in place for training the police force to address any domestic violence
incident:
7) The systems in place for handling repeated noise complaints e.g. roosters, boom
boxes: and
8) fhe pros and cons of body cameras for the Police force.
I am requesting public testimony be allowed before and after the discussion.
Please place this matter on the appropriate February 2, 2016 Committee agenda.
