RE: Report: Attendance at the Hawai`i County Public Access, Open Space
and Natural Resources Preservation Commission Meeting
In accordance with HRS § 92-2.5(e), I am reporting the attendance of myself and Council
Members Eoff and Poindexter at the Hawai`i County Public Access, Open Space and Natural
Resources Preservation Commission(PONC)meeting held on January 11, 2016 at 10:00 a.m. in
the Hawai`i County Building, Council Chambers located at 25 Aupuni Street, Hilo, Hawai`i.
There were two items on the PONC agenda that potentially related to Council board business:
Communication Nos. 16-002 and 16-003 regarding expanding public access to Makaula-`O`oma
Section, Honua`ula Forest Reserve, consideration of purchasing a parcel in Kaloko Mauka,
North Kona, discussion regarding the Waipi`o Valley Lookout, in Hamakua, Hawai`i and the
PONC Stewardship Grant Request from Pohaha I Ka Lani.
HRS § 92-2.5(e) provides that two or more members of a board, but less than a quorum, may
attend an informational meeting or presentation on matters relating to official board business,
including a meeting of another entity, legislative hearing, convention, seminar, or community
meeting; provided that the meeting or presentation is not specifically and exclusively organized
for or directed toward members of the board. The section further provides that at the next duly
noticed meeting of the board, the board members shall report their attendance and the matters
presented and discussed that related to official board business.
