RESOLUTION NO. 391 16
A RESOLUTION TRANSFERRING/APPROPRIATING AN APPROPRIATION OUT
AND FROM A DESIGNATED FUND ACCOUNT AND CREDITING SAME TO A
DESIGNATED FUND ACCOUNT TO PROVIDE A GRANT TO THE KEAUKAHA
COMMUNITY ASSOCIATION FOR THE KEAUKAHA ELEMENTARY SCHOOL'S
PRESCHOOL PROGRAM.
WHEREAS, the Keaukaha Community Association (KCA) is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit
organization that supports schools and programs in the Keaukaha area, including the Keaukaha
Elementary School's preschool program, "Hands-On, Minds-On"; and
WHEREAS, educational experiences outside the school campus are critical to early
learning comprehension that allows young children to establish a stronger association with
objects and concepts through visual and tactile learning experiences; and
WHEREAS, funds are needed to help with expenses related to off-campus site visits,
which includes supplies for various activities, fees, and bus transportation; and
WHEREAS, pursuant to Section 2-139(a)(2)(A) of the Hawai`i County Code,
Contingency Relief funds shall be transferred to an accepting County department/agency via
resolution identifying the nonprofit organization and the specific program, project, event,
activity, service, equipment, materials, or supplies for which the grant shall be used; and
WHEREAS, Contingency Relief funds from Council District 3 will be appropriated to
the Department of Parks and Recreation to provide a grant to the Keaukaha Community
Association for the Keaukaha Elementary School's preschool program, "Hands-On, Minds-On";
now, therefore,
BE IT RESOLVED BY THE COUNCIL OF THE COUNTY OF HAWAII that the
following amount is hereby transferred/appropriated as set forth below:

BE IT FINALLY RESOLVED that the County Clerk shall transmit a copy of this
resolution to the Director of Parks and Recreation and Director of Finance, and that the Director
of Finance is hereby authorized to make the necessary transfers in accordance with the terms of
this resolution.
