Your Committee on Environmental Management, to which was referred Communication
No. 642, reports as follows:
Communication No. 642, submitted by Mayor William P. Kenoi dated January 11, 2016,
nominates Mr. Richard H. Bennett to the Environmental Management Commission to fill a
vacant term to expire December 31, 2019.
Charmaine Shigemura, Executive Assistant to Mayor Kenoi, introduced Mr. Bennett, who
attended this meeting via video-conference from the Kona Council Chambers at the West
Hawai`i Civic Center. Mr. Bennett said he looks forward in bringing his expertise and
experience to the issues of protecting our environment and is honored to contribute to our
community. Ms. Wille, Ms. David, and Ms. Eoff all spoke in favor of the nomination.
Mr. Onishi informed Mr. Bennett that he is not required to be present for Council confirmation.
Your Committee on Environmental Management is in accord with the purpose and intent of
Communication No. 642, and recommends confirmation of the appointment of Mr. Richard H.
Bennett to the Environmental Management Commission.
