These funds will be used to create a housing placement assistance program for homeless adults with mental illness. Enclosed is a bill for an ordinance amending the Operating Budget by appropriating this $10,000 to the OHCD's Mental Health Kokua account within the Housing Fund. The Office of Housing and Community Development is requesting that this bill be waived from the Finance Committee and be placed on the March 2, 2016 Council Agenda in order to expedite the processing of these funds. BACKGROUND AND JUSTIFICATION (USE ADDITIONAL SHEETS AS NEEDED): Concurrent resolution is in process to request funding from Clerk Council Services-Contingency Relief funds from Council District 7 to the Office of Housing and Community Development to provide a pass-through grant to Mental Health Kokua. These funds would be used to create a housing placement assistance for homeless adults with mental illness. We are requesting these funds to be appropriated in the Housing Fund. Since there is a concurrent resolution to request funding transfer to the Office of Housing Fund, the OHCD would like to request a waiver from the Finance Committee and have this bill heard at the Council Meeting scheduled for March 2, 2016.
