Re: Resolution for multi-year lease
Enclosed is a resolution authorizing the payment of funds for more than one fiscal year
for a new multi-year lease agreement for nine pickup trucks for the Department of
Environmental Management. These vehicles will replace pump trucks which have
excessive mileage and are reaching the end of their useful lives and will transport
workers from the baseyards to island-wide transfer stations and other solid waste
facilities. The Department will be utilizing stationary pumps rather than mobile units at
transfer stations.
The anticipated lease cost is approximately $600 per month per vehicle. If there are any
questions, please do not hesitate to call Robin Bauman of the Department of
Environmental Management at 961-8179.

A. REQUEST:
nu (at)
Resolution authorizing the Mayor to enter into a multi-year lease agreement for twelve-0-2) Pickup Trucks for
a period of five (5) years for the Department of Environmental Management, Solid Waste Division.
B. BACKGROUND AND JUSTIFICATION (USE ADDITIONAL SHEETS AS NEEDED):
..- ( )
The Solid Waste Division is requesting to lease twelve (1 ) Pickup Trucks to be used to transport workers
from the baseyards to island wide transfer stations and other solid waste facilities.
These pickup trucks will replace pump trucks that have excessive mileage and are reaching the end of their
useful lives. The Solid Waste Division is moving away from using the old style Pump Trucks for compacting
refuse trailers. The Division will be utilizing stationary pump units that are physically located at the transfer
stations. The pickup trucks are more cost effective than the pump trucks. Replacing the aged pump trucks
will help reduce vehicle maintenance costs and down time for repairs.
Purchase price estimated at $30,000 each, the estimated lease is $600 each per month.
Funding for the lease is included in the Fiscal Year 2015-16 budget. Solid Waste was not able to procure the
six (6) Pump Trucks budgeted for in FY 2014-15 and will re-bid them as regular pickup trucks along with the
six (6) additional replacement trucks included in the FY 2015-16 budget. This equipment will be lease
financed such that the County will own the equipment at the end of the five year lease.
