RESOLUTION NO. 415 16
A RESOLUTION TRANSFERRING/APPROPRIATING AN APPROPRIATION OUT
AND FROM A DESIGNATED FUND ACCOUNT AND CREDITING SAME TO A
DESIGNATED FUND ACCOUNT TO PROVIDE A GRANT TO HOSPICE OF HILO—
COUNSELING FOR THE VOLUNTEERS.
WHEREAS, Hospice of I -filo (Hospice) is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization whose
mission is to improve the lives of patients by offering support, guidance, and compassionate care
of the body, mind, and spirit; and
WHEREAS, Hospice care involves easing the physical, psychological, emotional and
spiritual pain and suffering experienced by patients and the loved ones who care for them; and
WHEREAS, volunteers, the unsung heron of Hospice services, give of their time and
heart to bring comfort, support and relief to the patients and familes in Hospice's volunteer
program and enable caregivers to take a much-needed break from their exhaustive work: and
WHEREAS, Hospice would like to enhance its ability to offer emotional and
psychological support to its volunteers so that they can recover and reconcile with losses as they
serve hopice patients; and
WHEREAS, Hospice of Hilo has identified a financial need to provide in -services which
support the morale, self-care, and knowledge of volunteers; and
WHEREAS, pursuant to Section 2-139(a)(2)(A) of the Hawaii County Code,
Contingency Relief funds shall be transferred to an accepting County department/agency via
resolution identifying the nonprofit organization and the specific program, project. event,
activity, service, equipment, materials, or supplies for which the grant shall be used: and
WHEREAS. Contingency Relief funds from Council District 1 will be appropriated to
the Office of Aging to provide a grant to Hospice of Hilo (Counseling for the Volunteers) to be
expended on at least one counseling service per month, print materials, refreshments, and other
related items; now, therefore,
BE IT RESOLVED BY THE COUNCIL OF THE COUNTY OF H.AWAI`I that the
following amount is hereby transferred/appropriated as set forth below:

BE IT FINALLY RESOLVED that the County Clerk shall transmit a copy of this
resolution to the County Executive on Aging and Director of Finance, and that the Director of
Finance is hereby authorized to make the necessary transfers in accordance with the terms of this
resolution.
