RESOLUTION NO. 419 16
A RESOLUTION TRANSFERRING/APPROPRIATING AN APPROPRIATION OUT
AND FROM A DESIGNATED FUND ACCOUNT AND CREDITING SAME TO A
DESIGNATED FUND ACCOUNT TO PROVIDE A GRANT TO KANU O KA `AINA
LEARNING OHANA FOR WAIMEA ATHLETICS TO PURCHASE UNIFORMS AND
EQUIPMENT.
WHEREAS, Kanu o ka `Aina Learning Ohana is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization that
oversees Waimea Athletics; and
WHEREAS, Waimea Athletics provides a wide range of community-based recreational
and sports programs which include Biddy Basketball, volleyball, boys and girls basketball, track
and field, girls softball, Little League baseball, football, soccer, kupuna softball, and rugby; and
WHEREAS, participating in athletic activities provides physical, social, emotional and
intellectual benefits; and
WHEREAS, Waimea Athletics needs funds to purchase uniforms and equipment; and
WHEREAS, pursuant to Section 2-139(a)(2)(A) of the Hawai'i County Code,
Contingency Relief funds shall be transferred to an accepting County department/agency via
resolution identifying the nonprofit organization and the specific program, project, event,
activity, service, equipment, materials, or supplies for which the grant shall be used; and
WHEREAS, Contingency Relief funds from Council District 9 will be appropriated to
the Department of Research and Development to provide a grant to Kanu o ka'Aina Learning
Ohana for Waimea Athletics to purchase uniforms and equipment; now, therefore,
BE IT RESOLVED BY THE COUNCIL OF THE COUNTY OF HAWAII] that the
following amount is hereby transferred/appropriated as set forth below:

BE IT FINALLY RESOLVED that the County Clerk shall transmit a copy of this
resolution to the Director of Research and Development and Director of Finance, and that the
Director of Finance is hereby authorized to make the necessary transfers in accordance with the
terms of this resolution.
