RESOLUTION NO. 420 16
A RESOLUTION TRANSFERRING/APPROPRIATING AN APPROPRIATION OUT
AND FROM A DESIGNATED FUND ACCOUNT AND CREDITING SAME TO A
DESIGNATED FUND ACCOUNT TO PROVIDE A GRANT TO PALEAKU GARDENS
PEACE SANCTUARY TO ASSIST WITH THE DENGUE OUTBREAK.
WHEREAS, Paleaku Gardens Peace Sanctuary is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization that
offers a sanctuary for the advancement of individuals toward peace and harmony through
educational, cultural and spiritual programs; and
WHEREAS, Paleaku Gardens Peace Sanctuary in collaboration with the Hawaii
Dengue Fever Awareness group has undertaken active roles within the South Kona communities
to educate and inform residents regarding measures available to citizens to understand measures
to "tight the bite'% and
WHEREAS, Paleaku Gardens Peace Sanctuary has determined that Trap -N -Kill
'.Mosquito Trap by Spring Star, Inc., has proven to be effective in implementing preventative
measures to reduce the impact of recent dengue outbreaks in South Kona; and
WHEREAS, pursuant to Section 2-139(a)(2)(A) of the Ilawai`i County Code,
Contingency Relief funds shall be transferred to an accepting County department/agency via
resolution identifying the nonprofit organization and the specific program, project, event.
activity, service, equipment, materials, or supplies for which the grant shall be used; and
WHEREAS, Contingency Relief Funds from Council District 6 will be appropriated to
the Civil Defense Agency to provide a grant to Paleaku Gardens Peace Sanctuary to purchase
Trap -N -Kill Mosquito traps and, in partnership with the Hawaii Dengue Awareness group.
engage in community outreach and distribution to implement preventative measures, reduce and
eliminate the breeding of mosquitoes, and assist the community in the "fight the bite campaign;
now, therefore,
BE IT RESOLVED BY THE COUNCIL OF THE COUNTY OF HAWAII that the
following amount is hereby transferred/appropriated as set forth below:

BE IT FINALLY RESOLVED that the County Clerk shall transmit a copy of this
resolution to the Civil Defense Administrator and Director of Finance, and that the Director of
Finance is hereby authorized to make the necessary transfers in accordance with the terms of this
resolution.
