REPORT OF THE <br /> COMMITTEE ON FINANCE <br /> DATE: March 1, 2016 Re: Comm. No. 684/Res. No. 406-16 <br /> PLACE: Council Chambers <br /> Hilo, Hawai`i <br /> TIME: 2:25 p.m. <br /> Council Chair and Members <br /> Hawai`i County Council <br /> Hilo, Hawaii 96720 <br /> Your Committee on Finance, to which was referred Resolution No. 406-16, reports as follows: <br /> Resolution No. 406-16, transmitted by Finance Director Deanna S. Sako, via Comm. No. 684 dated <br /> February 11, 2016, authorizes the payment of funds of a later fiscal year and of more than one fiscal <br /> year for a multi-year lease of one (1) track-wheel excavator for the Department of Environmental <br /> Management. <br /> This Resolution authorizes the Mayor to enter into a five-year lease agreement for a track-wheel <br /> excavator at an approximate cost of$4,450 per month. The County will own the equipment at the <br /> end of the lease. <br /> Solid Waste Division Chief Greg Goodale came forward and stated that this brand new equipment <br /> will be shared island wide and is not for a specific baseyard. In response to inquiry from Council <br /> Member Danny Paleka, Mr. Goodale replied that the excavator will be the size of a Hitachi 400 or <br /> 450 or Caterpillar 400 or 450 EX, big enough to move dirt, green waste and mulch and be able to <br /> excavate with a bucket large enough to move material.
