RESOLUTION NO. 446 16
A RESOLUTION TRANSFERRING/APPROPRIATING AN APPROPRIATION OUT
AND FROM A DESIGNATED FUND ACCOUNT AND CREDITING SAME TO A
DESIGNATED FUND ACCOUNT TO PROVIDE A GRANT TO FRIENDS OF THE
FUTURE FOR THE KOHALA SENIOR CITIZENS CLUB, THE WAIKOLOA SENIOR
CENTER, AND THE WAIMEA SENIOR CITIZENS CLUB.
WHEREAS, Friends of the Future is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization that oversees the
Kohala Senior Citizens Club, the Waikoloa Senior Center, and the Waimea Senior Citizens Club;
and
WHEREAS, these senior club organizations provide an array of services to promote
maximum independence, optimum health, and self-enrichment; and
WHEREAS, participating in senior activities provides physical, social, emotional and
intellectual benefits; and
WHEREAS, the Kohala Senior Citizens Club, the Waikoloa Senior Center, and the
Waimea Senior Citizens Club need funding for club-related expenditures for equipment and
supplies, facilities improvements, and/or transportation to events; and
WHEREAS, the funds will be divided equally amongst the three senior club
organizations; and
WHEREAS, pursuant to Section 2-139(a)(2)(A) of the Hawai`i County Code,
Contingency Relief funds shall be transferred to an accepting County department/agency via
resolution identifying the nonprofit organization and the specific program, project, event,
activity, service, equipment, materials, or supplies for which the grant shall be used; and
WHEREAS, Contingency Relief funds from Council District 9 will be appropriated to
the Department of Research and Development to provide a grant to Friends of the Future for
equipment and supplies, facilities improvements, and/or transportation to events as designated by
the individual clubs; now, therefore,
BE IT RESOLVED BY THE COUNCIL OF THE COUNTY OF HAWAII that the
following amount is hereby transferred/appropriated as set forth below:

BE IT FINALLY RESOLVED that the County Clerk shall transmit a copy of this
resolution to the Director of Research and Development and Director of Finance, and that the
Director of Finance is hereby authorized to make the necessary transfers in accordance with the
terms of this resolution.
