Subject: IN SUPPORT of Bil 140
I am writing to express support for this bill. We eat at local-ingredient restaurants where ever possible and
are very frustrated to then be served take home in styrofoam.There are biodegradable alternatives
available on the island and this will have long lasting environmental impacts if not addressed.There is no
'away' to throw styrofoam.

Support County Bill to ban Polystyrene foam "Styrofoam" food containers &food service ware on Hawaii
Island.
Hawaii County Committee on Environmental Management has this agenda item for hearing on Tues. Feb. 16,
2016 at 1:00 pm at the West Hawaii Civic Center, that needs your support in written/oral testimony:
Bill 140: AMENDS CHAPTER 20, OF THE HAWAII COUNTY CODE 1983 ( 2005 EDITION, AS AMENDED), BY
ADDING A NEW ARTICLE RELATING TO REDUCTION OF POLYSTYRENE FOAM " STYROFOAM" FOOD
CONTAINERS AND FOOD SERVICE WARE
Prohibits the sale, disbursement, and use of polystyrene foam containers and food service ware by a food
provider or vendor to customers effective January 1, 2018.
