Subject: Bill 140 Styrofoam Reduction
Aloha from Kaua'i-I am a 40 year resident of Kaua'i and am in favor of the banning of any and all EPS products,
especially those involved with food.
EPS is a known health hazard, it does not decompose and is a litter problem.
There are many very suitable environmental friendly alternatives that have become more readily available and cheaper.
On Kaua'i a survey was done two years ago and one third of restaurants had already voluntarily changed to
compostables.
When Kaua'i was considering banning plastic bags a few years ago there was push back by individuals and businesses.
Plastic bags littered the roadways.
Now, everyone carried reusable bags and roadways cleaner.
Same can happen with EPS ban.
One element that should be considered is a way for people to bring their own containers for to go or doggie bag kind
food. I know many would like to do that.
Also,those nasty one time use styro coolers need to be banned. I see them broken on beaches.
