RE: Report: Attendance at the West Hawai`i Landlord Summit
In accordance with HRS § 92-2.5(e), I am reporting the attendance of myself, Council Member
Eoff and Chair Kanuha's Legislative Assistant, Jane Clement the West Hawai`i Landlord
Summit held on March 9, 2016 at 10:00 a.m. at the Sheraton Kona Resort at Keauhou Bay,
Kailua-Kona, Hawai`i.
Panel speakers were Sharon Hirota(County Office of Housing Section 8), Brandee Menino
(Hope Services, Hawai`i, Inc.), Cindy Madden(Landlord/Owner), and Charles McCreary (Legal
Aid Society of Hawai`i). Panel discussions included the County of Hawai`i's Section 8 contract
and its services.
HRS § 92-2.5(e)provides that two or more members of a board,but less than a quorum, may
attend an informational meeting or presentation on matters relating to official board business,
including a meeting of another entity, legislative hearing, convention, seminar, or community
meeting;provided that the meeting or presentation is not specifically and exclusively organized
for or directed toward members of the board. The section further provides that at the next duly
noticed meeting of the board,the board members shall report their attendance and the matters
presented and discussed that related to official board business.
