RESOLUTION NO. 455 16
A RESOLUTION TRANSFERRING/APPROPRIATING AN APPROPRIATION OUT
AND FROM A DESIGNATED FUND ACCOUNT AND CREDITING SAME TO A
DESIGNATED FUND ACCOUNT TO PROVIDE A GRANT TO KOKUA PAHOA TO
PROVIDE EQUIPMENT FOR THE PUNA PANTHERS ORGANIZATION.
WHEREAS, Kokua Pahoa is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization that unites community,
business, and government to "weed out" criminal activity by enhancing and creating
revitalization and other programs in Pahoa Village; and
WHEREAS, the Puna Panthers organization is a member of the Big Island Pop Warner
Football Conference; and
WHEREAS, Kokua Pahoa supports the Puna Panthers because it provides the youth in
Puna with a positive athletic influence that teaches the values of teamwork, dedication, and a
superior work ethic; and
WHEREAS, Kokua Pahoa is requesting funds to purchase equipment for the Puna
Panthers in preparation for the upcoming football season; and
WHEREAS, pursuant to Section 2-139(a)(2)(A) of the Hawai`i County Code,
Contingency Relief funds shall be transferred to an accepting County department/agency via
resolution identifying the nonprofit organization and the specific program, project, event,
activity, service, equipment, materials, or supplies for which the grant shall be used; and
WHEREAS, Contingency Relief funds from Council District 4 will be appropriated to
the Department of Research and Development to provide a grant to Kokua Pahoa to assist with
the purchase of equipment for the Puna Panthers organization; now, therefore,
BE IT RESOLVED BY THE COUNCIL OF THE COUNTY OF HAWAII that the
following amount is hereby transferred/appropriated as set forth below:

BE IT FINALLY RESOLVED that the County Clerk shall transmit a copy of this
resolution to the Director of Research and Development and Director of Finance, and that the
Director of Finance is hereby authorized to make the necessary transfers in accordance with the
terms of this resolution.
