Your Committee on Planning, to which was referred Bill No. 158, reports as follows:
Bill No. 158, transmitted by Mayor William P. Kenoi, via Communication No. 728 dated
February 24, 2016, amends Section 25-8-33 (City of Hilo Zone Map), Article 8, Chapter 25
(Zoning Code) of the Hawai`i County Code 1983 (2005 Edition) by changing the district classification
from Agricultural - Three Acres (A-3a)to Residential and Agricultural - One Acre (RA-1a) at Pana`ewa
House Lots, Waiakea, South Hilo, Hawai`i, covered by Tax Map Key: 2-2-051:003. The applicant is
Watanabe Family Trust, and the subject parcel covers approximately 2.73 acres. The applicant proposes
to subdivide the property into two lots for family estate planning purposes.
The Windward Planning Commission, at its duly held public hearing on February 4, 2016, voted to
recommend approval of this item.
The applicant attended the meeting from Hilo by videoconference. There was no discussion.
Your Committee on Planning is in accord with the purpose and intent of Bill No. 158, and recommends
passage on first reading.
