RESOLUTION NO. 485 16
A RESOLUTION TRANSFERRING/APPROPRIATING AN APPROPRIATION OUT
AND FROM A DESIGNATED FUND ACCOUNT AND CREDITING SAME TO A
DESIGNATED FUND ACCOUNT TO ASSIST IN THE PURCHASE OF SPEED
TIMING EQUIPMENT ALSO KNOWN AS A "COMBINE PACKAGE".
WHEREAS, athletic scholarships afford many Island youths the opportunity to attend
college, however, competition for these scholarships is fierce; and
WHEREAS, qualification for these scholarships includes many variables, many of which
are speed related, and certified, specialized timing equipment is required for accurate speed
qualification trial results; and
WHEREAS, this equipment is not currently available in Hawai`i County, forcing
students to incur great expense to travel to facilities that offer speed qualification trials; and
WHEREAS, the Department of Parks and Recreation is requesting assistance in the
purchase of the necessary certified, specialized speed timing equipment known as a"combine
package" that will allow Hawai`i County youths the ability to do their trials on island; and
WHEREAS, Contingency Relief funds from Council District 2 will be appropriated to
the Department of Parks and Recreation to assist in the purchase of a "combine package"—speed
timing equipment; now, therefore,
BE IT RESOLVED BY THE COUNCIL OF THE COUNTY OF HAWAII that the
following amount is hereby transferred/appropriated as set forth below:

BE IT FINALLY RESOLVED that the County Clerk shall transmit a copy of this
resolution to the Director of Parks and Recreation and Director of Finance, and that the Director
of Finance is hereby authorized to make the necessary transfers in accordance with the terms of
this resolution.
