RESOLUTION NO. 490 16
A RESOLUTION TRANSFERRING/APPROPRIATING AN APPROPRIATION OUT
AND FROM A DESIGNATED FUND ACCOUNT AND CREDITING SAME TO A
DESIGNATED FUND ACCOUNT TO PAY FOR THE DESIGN AND CONSTRUCTION
OF A SIGN TO HONOR THE DANIEL R. SAYRE MEMORIAL FOUNDATION FOR
ITS DEDICATION AND CONTRIBUTIONS TO THE HAWAII FIRE DEPARTMENT.
WHEREAS, since its inception in 1997, the Daniel R. Sayre Memorial Foundation has
raised over $1 million in donations and equipment for the Hawai`i Fire Department, and
100 percent of the donations go to funding rescue equipment and training that is vital to saving
lives; and
WHEREAS, the County of Hawai`i recognizes that the Daniel R. Sayre Memorial
Foundation aggressively pursues opportunities to acquire and donate equipment for the Hawai`i
Fire Department, and it is grateful for the generous donations that have made a tremendous
impact on the safety and quality of life for Hawai`i Island residents and visitors; and
WHEREAS, the Hawai`i Fire Department seeks a funding source to pay for the design
and construction of a sign in the vicinity of the Makalei Fire Station to honor the Daniel R. Sayre
Memorial Foundation for its dedication and contributions to the Hawai`i Fire Department and
people of Hawai`i County; and
WHEREAS, Contingency Relief funds from Council District 8 will be appropriated to
the Hawaii Fire Department to pay for the design and construction of a sign to honor the Daniel
R. Sayre Memorial Foundation; now, therefore,
BE IT RESOLVED BY THE COUNCIL OF THE COUNTY OF HAWAII that the
following amount is hereby transferred/appropriated as set forth below:

BE IT FINALLY RESOLVED that the County Clerk shall transmit a copy of this
resolution to the Fire Chief and Director of Finance, and that the Director of Finance is hereby
authorized to make the necessary transfers in accordance with the terms of this resolution.
