RESOLUTION NO. 495 16
A RESOLUTION TRANSFERRING/APPROPRIATING AN APPROPRIATION OUT
AND FROM A DESIGNATED FUND ACCOUNT AND CREDITING SAME TO A
DESIGNATED FUND ACCOUNT TO INSTALL SOLAR-POWERED FLASHING
LIGHTS AT THE NEWLY-MARKED PEDESTRIAN CROSSWALK ON KUAKINI
HIGHWAY.
WHEREAS, the Traffic Division of the Department of Public Works is responsible for
installing, maintaining, and repairing traffic control facilities and devices and street lighting
systems; and
WHEREAS, a newly-marked pedestrian crosswalk was installed near the University of
the Nation campus and Kamaaina Hale housing complex on Kuakini Highway to provide a safe
pedestrian crossing; and
WHEREAS, Traffic Division is requesting that solar-powered flashing lights be installed
at this highly-used pedestrian crosswalk as a supplemental safety measure to enhance driver
awareness and provide an active warning pedestrian presence; and
WHEREAS, Contingency Relief funds from Council District 7 will be appropriated to
the Department of Public Works, Traffic Division, to install solar-powered flashing lights at the
newly-marked pedestrian crosswalk on Kuakini Highway ; now, therefore,
BE IT RESOLVED BY THE COUNCIL OF THE COUNTY OF HAWAII that the
following amount is hereby transferred/appropriated as set forth below:

BE IT FINALLY RESOLVED that the County Clerk shall transmit a copy of this
resolution to the Director of Public Works and Director of Finance, and that the Director of
Finance is hereby authorized to make the necessary transfers in accordance with the terms of this
resolution.
