RESOLUTION NO. 502 16
A RESOLUTION TRANSFERRING/APPROPRIATING AN APPROPRIATION OUT
AND FROM A DESIGNATED FUND ACCOUNT AND CREDITING SAME TO A
DESIGNATED FUND ACCOUNT TO PROVIDE A GRANT TO NEIGHBORHOOD
PLACE OF PUNA FOR EXPENSES RELATED TO THE FAMILY STRENGTHENING
AND SUPPORT PROGRAM.
WHEREAS,Neighborhood Place of Puna(NPP) is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization
that empowers families and communities in Puna by building strong foundations through healthy
relationships that value each person's uniqueness; and
WHEREAS, the goal of NPP is to prevent child abuse and neglect by ensuring that
families have access to the resources and skills they need to raise safe and healthy children; and
WHEREAS,NPP's Family Strengthening and Support program helps parents and
children by meeting weekly with families in their homes over a period of several months,
connecting the family to available resources, providing encouragement and support, helping the
parents understand their children's developmental stages, and teaching developmentally
appropriate parenting skills; and
WHEREAS,NPP is requesting funds to assist with expenses related to the Family
Strengthening and Support program, costs include, but not limited to,transportation and outreach
materials; and
WHEREAS,pursuant to Section 2-139(a)(2)(A) of the Hawai`i County Code,
Contingency Relief funds shall be transferred to an accepting County department/agency via
resolution identifying the nonprofit organization and the specific program, project, event,
activity, service, equipment, materials, or supplies for which the grant shall be used; and
WHEREAS, Contingency Relief funds from Council District 5 will be appropriated to the
Office of the Prosecuting Attorney to provide a grant to NPP to assist with expenses related to the
Family Strengthening and Support program; now, therefore,
BE IT RESOLVED BY THE COUNCIL OF THE COUNTY OF HAWAII that the
following amount is hereby transferred/appropriated as set forth below:

RE IT FINALLY RESOLVED that the County Clerk shall transmit a copy of this
resolution to the Prosecuting Attorney and Director of Finance, and that the Director of Finance
is hereby authorized to make the necessary transfers in accordance with the terms of this
resolution.
