RESOLUTION NO. 505 16
A RESOLUTION TRANSFERRING/APPROPRIATING AN APPROPRIATION OUT
AND FROM A DESIGNATED FUND ACCOUNT AND CREDITING SAME TO A
DESIGNATED FUND ACCOUNT TO PROVIDE A GRANT TO THE KOHALA
CENTER, INC. FOR COQUI - FREE WAIMEA.
WHEREAS, the Kohala Center, Inc. is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization located in
Waimea; and
WHEREAS, Coqui - Free Waimea(CFW) is working to prevent and maintain the
prevention of the coqui from overtaking Waimea; and
WHEREAS, the coqui has no predators, parasites, or diseases in Hawai`i to reduce the
growth of their population; and
WHEREAS, the coqui arrive in Waimea via plants and vehicles from infested areas of
the island; and
WHEREAS, CFW will continue a two-pronged approach to prevent infestations via
eradication and education;
WHEREAS,pursuant to Section 2-139(a)(2)(A) of the Hawai`i County Code,
Contingency Relief funds shall be transferred to an accepting County department/agency via
resolution identifying the nonprofit organization and the specific program, project, event,
activity, service, equipment, materials, or supplies for which the grant shall be used; and
WHEREAS, Contingency Relief funds from Council District 9 will be appropriated to
the Department of Research and Development to provide a grant to the Kohala Center, Inc. for
Coqui—Free Waimea to purchase citric acid; now, therefore,
BE IT RESOLVED BY THE COUNCIL OF THE COUNTY OF HAWAII that the
following amount is hereby transferred/appropriated as set forth below;

BE IT FINALLY RESOLVED that the County Clerk shall transmit a copy of this
resolution to the Director of Research and Development and Director of Finance, and that the
Director of Finance is hereby authorized to make the necessary transfers in accordance with the
terms of this resolution.
