Chairperson Arakaki, members of the Hawaii County Council:
My name is Adrian Barber. I reside at 13-1276 Leilani Avenue and I
work in Lani Puna Gardens a few hundred feet from the fence line
of Puna Geothermal Venture.
I was elected to serve, by the people of Puna, as a representative
on the Geothermal Asset Fund Rules Committee. We were charged with
the responsibility of promulgating, with Planning Department of
the County of Hawaii, rules for the administration of the
Geothermal Fund mandated by condition 51 of the Geothermal
Resource Permit (GRP 87-1), approved by the County of Hawaii. I am
also privileged to serve as president of Puna Malama Pono, a non
profit corporation chartered to preserve and protect the
environment of Puna.
On behalf of the Board on Puna Malama Pono and myself I stand in
absolute opposition to the passage of Bill 14, the so-called
Geothermal Royalty Fund, for reasons that I gave at the first
reading of this Bill.
Speaking for myself, now, I oppose the reappointment of Mr.
Richard Wurdeman as Corporation Coucil of the County of Hawaii,
(FC Rept. 40) and I strongly oppose the confirmation of the
appointment of Ms. Virginia Goldstein as Planning Director, (PC
Rept. 28).
I grant the time remaining of my three minutes to Ms. Catherine
Ford who will present the GAFRC position.
Thank you.
Good Day.
Adrian Barber. ~ s 9
