RESOLUTION NO. 525 16
A RESOLUTION TRANSFERRING/APPROPRIATING AN APPROPRIATION OUT
AND FROM A DESIGNATED FUND ACCOUNT AND CREDITING SAME TO A
DESIGNATED FUND ACCOUNT TO PROVIDE A GRANT TO FRIENDS OF THE
FUTURE FOR THE PURCHASE OF PLAYGROUND EQUIPMENT FOR ANUENUE
PLAYGROUND.
WHEREAS, Friends of the Future is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization that oversees the
Friends of Anuenue Playground; and
WHEREAS, the Friends of Anuenue Playground was formed in 2013 to repair and
refurbish Anuenue Playground, which was designed and constructed in 1992 by dedicated
community volunteers in Waimea; and
WHEREAS, Anuenue Playground provides recreation, exercise, and a healthy
environment for the community and keiki; and
WHEREAS, volunteers will participate in another community-led effort to rebuild,
renew, and upgrade the playground to code, including ADA compliance; and
WHEREAS, the Friends of the Future needs funding for playground equipment for
Anuenue Playground; and
WHEREAS, pursuant to Section 2-139(a)(2)(A) of the Hawai`i County Code,
Contingency Relief funds shall be transferred to an accepting County department/agency via
resolution identifying the nonprofit organization and the specific program, project, event,
activity, service, equipment, materials, or supplies for which the grant shall be used; and
WHEREAS, Contingency Relief funds from Council District 9 will be appropriated to
the Department of Research and Development to provide a grant to Friends of the Future for the
purchase of playground equipment for Anuenue Playground; now, therefore,
BE IT RESOLVED BY THE COUNCIL OF THE COUNTY OF HAWAII that the
following amount is hereby transferred/appropriated as set forth below:

BE IT FINALLY RESOLVED that the County Clerk shall transmit a copy of this
resolution to the Director of Research and Development and Director of Finance, and that the
Director of Finance is hereby authorized to make the necessary transfers in accordance with the
terms of this resolution.
