Dear Chairman Kanuha and Council Members:
It is my pleasure to nominate Nancy Carr Smith from the South Kohala District to the
Hawai'i County Leeward Planning Commission. Ms. Carr Smith is a 16-year resident of
Hawai'i. She is a self-employed Realtor for Aloha Kohala Realty.
Ms. Carr Smith will complete her term as a member of the Board of Appeals in
December, 2016. She is a board member and vice president of the Waimea
Community Association, a volunteer mediator at the West Hawai'i Mediation Center, a
member of Ulumau/Hawai'i Island Leadership Series and a member of the Big Island
Giving Tree. Ms. Carr Smith states that she is a member of the Democratic Party. If
confirmed, she will serve a term to expire on March 31, 2021, replacing Brandi Beaudet
whose term expired on March 31, 2016.
