Donna Walker Pahoa,HI 2016-04-21 I don't feel it has been thought out well enough.Too many mistakes get made
pushing legislation through on someone's final months in office.
lorry jarrett Pahoa,HI 201 6-04-21 This will hurt low income residents
Bryan Revell Hilo,HI 2016-04-21 I own my own business and with G.E Tax,DCGA fees,Insurance, and all the
other fees local business has to shell out we cannot survive here that's why
Hawaii is voted worst place to do business. Most small business fail within first
year even with proper funding many other states offer incentives for small
businesses and Hawai just rakes them over the coals. One day soon their will
only be big box stores here.
Bob Douglas Hilo,HI 2016-04-21 1.Mostly to benefit Oahu
2.The counties need to enforce and collect ALL delinquent prop taxes.
3.County planning dents need to enforce and collect on unpermitted
structures.
4.Retirement Irom state lobs to consider only base pay.No overtime or shift
differential.
5.State jobs compensation audit and realignment against median US pay
Julia Hoskins Keaau,HI 2016-04-21 Thus tax is compounded starting with raw materials.
Rob Guzman Pahoa,HI 2016-04-21 Almost any tax is better than a GE tax.It anything, they should be reducing it,
and eliminating it totally for medications, lood and feminine hygiene products.
anne anderson Hilo,HI 2016-04-21 My husband and I have had our own business license for many years. In
addition to paying our state and federal tax,we also have to pay this excise tax.
It is a chunk of change. I appreciate the need to lax outside companies who
come into Hawaii to benefit from tourism,etc...but local folks who start their
own business or work as contract workers..the excise tax is painful and
discouraging. If you must raise it,please only raise it for those who come into
Hawaii from the outside.

Kenneth Deehr Pahoa,HI 201 6-04-21 I'm signing this because I am on a fixed income and cannot afford to be taxed
into poverty and join so many other homeless In Hawaii. Give Hawaii County
back it's fair share of the TAT that was taken away during the recession. As
difficult as it is to get TAT restored is how difficult it would be to rescind this
proposed tax.
Dorothy Malinski Pahoa,HI 2016-04-21 This is an unfair tax on the poor and elderly.
Joycelyn lyo Hilo,HI 2016-04-21 The State needs to use the$650000 lest us sitting around somewhere girl
highways. It is ridiculous that county taxpayers will give to pay more rad
because the State has night figured out how to efficiently disburse the Federal
funds.Other states in the US are not slow like Hawaii Stale Admin. They get
the Federal$in(just like State of Hawaii). Difference is,they actually spend
the Federal$instead of sitting on it like the State of Hawaii. State Aldo wants
to raise our car rego 75%to cover fixing roadways...my car rego would
increase from$152 Ito$266 next year! I'm afraid it the county starts this tax
thing for highways, test the State roll divest itself from being responsible for
fixing Hawaii island's State highways. I just don't trust our Stale government. It
doesn't seem like they care what goes on or what happens to the neighbor
islands.Nuff said in this small space on this petition. Thanks Greggorl

Brendan Freitas Keaau,Hl 2016-04-21 I've never seen a tax that was levied that wasn't used. Government is going to
find a way to use this money and then try to justify it,and saying this is only

Emily Taaroa Keaau,HI 2016-04-21 We run a small farm and typically don't charge our customers GE Tax when we
make direct sales at farmers markets and on farm sales,so we absorb all of
that extra expense when we go to pay our GE Taxes. And the worst part is that
even tough we might be loosing money that quarter on the farm,we are still
taxed on our gross income and not our net income, which leads to even greater
losses. Even if we did pass the expense on to our customers, that increases
our prices that much more and makes it harder for us to sell our products and
continue our business. The GE Tax is a completely regressive tax and
increases shouldn't be even remotely considered until food and medicine is
exempt.
S K Honomu,HI 2016-04-21 This tax hurts those in our community that can least afford it. If the county
needs additional funds,it should come from property taxes and a fair allocation
of the TAT to the counties.

Stephanie Goddard Keaau,HI 2016-04-22 I pay enough GE Taxes and I would get nothing for giving away more money!
Steven Campbell Hilo,HI 2016-04-22 I oppose this GE tax increase because
1.Retail prices are already out of proportion for the island and only ever hurts
to disenfranchise the residents of the island.
2.The price of services from local service providers is already out of proportion
and priced proportionally too high due to the cost of living
3.Few actors in local government or social services for that matter have
appropriately managed the money they have already been given authority to
allocate.
4.Small Business owners are currently struggling to stay in business and are
forced out of the market by corporate strongholds and the unfortunate
patronage of a radically impoverished community with little choice but to submit
to corporate greed just to feed and clothe their children.
•
5.Hawaii was never meant to be turned into a rich mans paradise-that is
hardly a united community and my tear of a greater division of wealth on island
only stimulates contempt for those few that benefit from this change in
legislation by the mass quantity of locals struggling. That breeds crime. The
whole idea of more taxation limits progress for the small business.
Please don't bury your own community further from prosperity.Business is
running from Hilo right now and that doesn't keep kids out of trouble.

Gary Onishi Honolulu,HI 2016-04-23 Dear Council Members,
I'm urging you to please defer attempts to increase the GE Tax. I've seen how
destructive the 1/2%increase has been for Oahu's residents. The increase
affects the people who can least afford it. It is a contributing factor to
homelessness. The GET is far reaching and has a cumulative affect on
peoples pocket books- The increase is far more than the 1/2%increase on its
lace. Landlords, grocery stores, pharmacies all will be forced to raise the rents
and prices adding to the already heavy burden on Hawaii's residents.
I again urge The council to please defer any proposal to increase the GET.
Thank you.
