Dear Chairman Kanuha and Council Members:
Resolution No. 481-16, adopted by the Hawaii County Council on April 6, 2016, establishes the
Banyan Drive Hawaii Redevelopment Agency and authorizes the Mayor to appoint, with the
approval of the Council, five members to the Agency. I hereby submit for Council confirmation
the following individuals as nominees to the Banyan Drive Hawaii Redevelopment Agency.
1. Mary Begier (1 year term)
2. Sigmund Zane (2 year term)
3. Elmer Gorospe (3 year term)
4. Barry Taniguchi (4 year term)
5. Brian DeLima (5 year term)
Application forms for each of the above nominees will be submitted to the Council under
separate and confidential cover.
I respectfully request a deadline breach and a waiver through Committee for this communication
to be placed on the next Council meeting scheduled for May 17, 2016. Your review and
favorable recommendation of each of the above nominees would be appreciated.

Pursuant to Section 2(g) of Rule 4 of the Rules of Procedure of the Council of the County of
Hawaii, this written request is submitted with my approval that the above-referenced matter he
waived from the Committee on Planning to the full Council for immediate action. In reviewing
this matter, timely approval is crucial. It is therefore advantageous that approval is granted and
the matter be placed onto the next Council agenda for review. I lowever, in the event this request
is denied,for whatever reason, I understand the matter shall be referred to the Committee on
Planning for placement on its future agenda.
