REPORT OF THE <br /> COMMITTEE ON PLANNING <br /> DATE: May 3, 2016 Re: Comm.No. 869 <br /> PLACE: Council Chambers <br /> Kona, Hawai`i <br /> TIME: 9:07 a.m. <br /> Council Chair and Members <br /> Hawaii County Council <br /> Hilo, Hawai`i 96720 <br /> Your Committee on Planning, to which was referred Communication No. 869, reports as follows: <br /> Communication No. 869,transmitted by Mayor William P. Kenoi dated April 7, 2016, nominates <br /> Nancy Carr Smith to the Leeward Planning Commission. If confirmed, Ms. Carr Smith would serve a <br /> term to expire March 31, 2021. <br /> Charmaine Shigemura, Executive Assistant for Mayor Kenoi, introduced Ms. Can Smith. <br /> Ms. Can Smith said she is looking forward to serving and referenced her previous service on the <br /> South Kohala Community Development Plan Action Committee and the Board of Appeals. Mr. Paleka <br /> asked Ms. Can Smith to elaborate on her work with the Ulumau/Hawai`i Island Leadership Series. <br /> Ms. Carr Smith responded that the purpose was to bring up new leaders in the community. <br /> Ms. Poindexter thanked Ms. Carr Smith for volunteering and giving of her time for the Waimea <br /> community, and for stepping up to serve.
