Dear Councilmen,
I, Hallie Adolf, support Bill 140 because I am deeply concerned with the negative health impacts that single-use
EPS foam and plastic have on our marine wildlife and human health. EPS foam continues to find its way into
the ocean and can end up being ingested by numerous marine animals for years to come. When we sit down to
eat our local fish, chances are that we could be ingesting plastics and chemicals too.
I try to avoid businesses that use these materials. As a former caterer, I know that there are alternatives to these
materials locally from Sustainable Island Products. As a consumer, I don't mind paying an extra 25 cents for a
plate lunch that is using a sustainable package.
Please take the right steps to support a cleaner and healthier future for all of us.
