Re: Resolution for multi-year agreement
The Department of Environmental Management seeks to enter into a third amended
license agreement for a five year extension of the current agreement to utilize land for the
Kea'au Transfer Station.
Enclosed is a resolution authorizing the County to enter into a five-year, multi-year lease
agreement with Shipman Co. Ltd. for this real property identified by Tax Map Key
(3) 1-6-003:065. The county has operated community services at this location since
1963.

A. REQUEST:
Prepare County Council submittal authorizing the County of Hawaii Department of Environmential
Management to enter into a Third Amended License Agreement for a five year extension to utilize lands for
community services in Kea'au .
B. BACKGROUND AND JUSTIFICATION (USE ADDITIONAL SHEETS AS NEEDED):
The County of Hawaii Department of Environmental Management currently utilizes lands owned by Shipman
Co. Ltd. in Kea'au, identified as tax map key (3) 1-6-003:065 for the Kea'au Transfer Station. The County
has operated community services at the property since 1963. The proposed amendment will be for a five
year period from July 1, 2016 to June 30, 2021 with an option for an additional 5 years.
