Aloha Council Member Onishi,
I write to express my opposition to Bill 165 which would add a County
of Hawaii surcharge of one-half percent on top of the current 4.0
General Excise Tax. 67.

As a small business owner, Realtor and consumer of "buy
local" products the additional unfounded tax is taking money out
of our pockets for no specific good reason. Why buy local if the taxes ,
on every thing makes it a bad buy.
The County needs to do more than just take away for no good purpose
"another tool in the tool box". Get your business in order
and use funds more wisely.
How about all those gas guseling County vehicles parked in the yard is
that a good use of funds? Every dollar that my family -v--
"earns" gets GETaxed right off the top. Every purchase that
we make gets GETaxed. How about getting your house in order and give
us a tax break not a new tax.
We will work to defeat any Council member that votes to add additional
GETaxes to our ever increase expenses.
Thank you for the opportunity to express my thoughts on this important
matter in advance of Tuesday's vote.
