Aloha Council Member Onishi,
I write to express my opposition to Bill 165 which would add a County
of Hawaii surcharge of one-half percent on top of the current 4.0
General Excise Tax. `'
As self-employed constituents, the burden of having an increased GET
would affect our ability to provide quality service to our clients. ;e3
This is due to the fact that an increase would be realized through a
distorted view of of what we have to offer, where instead of seeing the
added-benefit through this tax, clients would only see an increase in
cost. We already are faced with the task to defend our livelihood and
this increase would negatively affect our efforts.
Thank you for the opportunity to express my thoughts on this important
matter in advance of Tuesday's vote.
