Aloha Council Member Onishi,
I write to express my opposition to Bill 165 which would add a County C C�
of Hawaii surcharge of one-half percent on top of the current 4.0 -'" C=
General Excise Tax.
While I recognize and appreciate the need to raise additional revenues RD
for the County of Hawaii, I strongly believe the proposal is extreme
and would have an adverse and negative impact on Hawaii's hard working
families, homeless, rentals, and our communities.
It is difficult enough here with limited resources and job
opportunities. Many families struggle to earn a living, and many hold
two jobs to make ends meet. --
Considering something like this will only further burden our residents
of Hawaii Island.
Please do not consider this for our island people.
Thank you for the opportunity to express my thoughts on this important
matter in advance of Tuesday's vote.
