Aloha Chair and Presiding Officer Eoff,
I write to express my opposition to Bill 165 which would add a County of Hawaii surcharge of one-half percent on top of
the current 4.0 General Excise Tax.
I have been in the vacation rental business for myself and clients since 2005. I can tell you that IF we are to remain
viable,we cannot continue to tax'willy nilly',just because we cannot get our financial affairs in order; and spend &
commit to spend, less than we have coming in. It is killing business in an already threatened business environment with
the increased airfares, Canadian dollar worth 75%of ours, lack of Chinese tourism and increased undesirability of the
homelessness here.
Thank you for the opportunity to express my thoughts on this important matter in advance of Tuesday's vote.
