Aloha Chair and Presiding Officer Eoff,
I write to express my opposition to Bill 165 which would add a County of Hawaii surcharge of one-half percent on top of
the current 4.0 General Excise Tax.
I am against the increase of the general excise tax We as tax payers&citizen have so much increases put on us and our
wages are not keeping up with every increase the State &County makes.You talk about real property taxes not being
increased that is not true.The rate stays the same but appraised valuation goes up so you do pay more. We are not
blind.The middle class has to put out so much for the lower income but they seem to buy better food than we middle
class can buy.One more increase on us will just put another damper for our spending.We already have to crunch our
pennies to make ends meet and at this point the economy is still not strong.We can't even get good values on selling
our homes. Can't get what the county values it at. Everything is overpriced for us to even survive this economy. Maybe
you folks don't feel it as your wages are way more than what I get paid. Maybe if you came down to our level JUST
MAYBE you would understand. I SAY VOTE NO TO BILL 165 ... i n�
