Aloha Chair and Presiding Officer Eoff,
I write to express my opposition to Bill 165 which would add a County of Hawaii surcharge of one-half percent on top of
the current 4.0 General Excise Tax.
The GET is a regressive tax hardest on the poor. You know this! DO NOT increase this wrong tax. Instead, replace the
GET with a progressive tax that will make the rich feel the pinch along with the poor. Then let's talk about the
increase. Do the right thing. Vote no on bill 165.
Thank you for the opportunity to express my thoughts on this important matter in advance of Tuesday's vote.
