RESOLUTION NO. 538 16
A RESOLUTION APPROVING THE HAWAII STATE ASSOCIATION OF COUNTIES
SLATE OF OFFICERS,NOMINEES TO THE NATIONAL ASSOCIATION OF
COUNTIES BOARD OF DIRECTORS,AND NOMINEES TO THE WESTERN
INTERSTATE REGION BOARD OF DIRECTORS FOR FISCAL YEAR 2016-2017.
WHEREAS, on April 21, 2016, the Hawaii State Association of Counties (HSAC)
Executive Committee approved its proposed slate of officers and nominations to the National
Association of Counties (NACo) Board of Directors and Western Interstate Region (WIR) Board
of Directors for fiscal year 2016-2017; and
WHEREAS, pursuant to HSAC bylaws, each council shall take appropriate action on the
proposed slate of officers prior to the HSAC annual meeting; and
WHEREAS, HSAC bylaws further state that HSAC shall have two directors serving on
the NACo Board of Directors and two directors serving on the WIR Board of Directors who are
nominated to the position by the HSAC Executive Committee and the individual councils prior
to the HSAC annual meeting; now, therefore,
BE IT RESOLVED BY THE COUNCIL OF THE COUNTY OF HAWAII that it
hereby approves the following HSAC slate of officers for fiscal year 2016-2017:
President: Michael P. Victorino, Maui County Council
Gladys C. Baisa (Alternate)
Vice President: Dennis "Fresh" Onishi, Hawai`i County Council
Daniel K. Paleka, Jr. (Alternate)
Secretary: Mel Rapozo, Kauai County Council
Ross Kagawa(Alternate)
Treasurer: J. Ikaika Anderson, Honolulu City Council
Joey Manahan (Alternate)
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the following HSAC nominations to the NACo
Board of Directors are hereby approved:
1. KipuKai Kualii, Kauai County Council
2. J. Ikaika Anderson, Honolulu City Council
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the following HSAC nominations to the WIR
Board of Directors are hereby approved:
1. Mike White, Maui County Council
2. Daniel K. Paleka, Jr., Hawaii County Council
BE IT FINALLY RESOLVED that the County Clerk shall transmit a copy of this
resolution to the President and Secretary of the Hawai`i State Association of Counties.
