Dote,7UN1_02-2411— 6/1/2016 Hawaii County Council RE:CU Tax Exempt Status Aloha, I am writing in the regards to the Credit Union Tax Exempt Status. I am a mother of 3 young men, ages 8,9, and 12. I am actively involved in our community through several sports programs—N.S.P. Basketball, Kohala Charger's Pop Warner Association, Kohala King's Baseball, and most recently Halau Kawehileimamoikaweklu'OKohala.I am employed at the Hawaii Community FCU, Kohala Branch. My recent position as a Loan Processor, along with my Involvement in.the community, has really initiated a strong interest in Credit Unions and what it does for the community. As stated in the Hawaii Community FCU mission, I truly believe in our fundamental philosophy,a group of people joining together to help each other succeed. I am very proud of the credit union I represent, and for all of the community efforts we are engaged in.The Student Credit Union,Financial Literacy, and Youth Savings programs are just a few that helps to educate our youth toward their financial future. In Kohala,we participate in our Annual Market Day and Kamehameha Day Festivities. It is with tremendous support from our community that we are able to have successful events. The credit union is a large part of our community. We are their voice, their future. We are here to service and invest In our keiki, our kupuna, and our future. It is our responsibility to hold steadfast to the overwhelming cost and changes of living in Hawaii. I firmly testify against the repeal of Credit Union's tax exempt status. I fear, with the rising cost of living,it would only be a matter of time until credit unions will diminish.Who will support our community, the children, and our future? My kupuna would say it is another Pono'ole movement.
