To: q Ana Dote JU 0 2 2016 1 June 1, 2016 To Hawaii County Finance Committee; This letter is to provide my personal testimony in opposition to the proposed deletion of the property tax exemption specifically for credit unions in Hawaii County under.Bill 212. As a recently retired employee and Branch Manager of Hawaii Community Federal Credit Union it is my personal experience and knowledge of what North Kohala communities have enjoyed because of the commitment of the credit union and its employees. The support for the financial needs of the communities of North Kohala have required much as we found ourselves taking on the bulk of this task after the earthquake of 2006 when Bank of Hawaii made the business decision to close. It has been and continues to be the commitment of this credit union and its employees to provide that support so this community does not go without. Supporting senior activities, Kohala Community Athletic Association, North Kohala Resource Center, Kohala Student Credit Union, Deposit Days, Kohala HS Grad Night activities, Kamehameha Day, Food Basket, school supply drives, scholarships, Financial Training, etc.are a few of the many activities. "Ownership" of our communities and our responsibility to them is not taken lightly given every member is an owner. Our success and ability to serve is deeply entwined with the success of our communities. Your time to seriously consider my position in opposition of this is much appreciated. A decision against Bill 212 will be in support of people joined together to achieve their financial goals. Thank you for your time. Sincerely, LAKME NISHIE
