Subject: Ban Styrofoam
I am writing to submit my testimony to ban styrofoam. I am unable to be in the meeting this Friday because of
work.
We have made many huge strides in environmental awareness in the past decade. We have known since I was in
grade school that styrofoam does not decompose, and that when it does, it leeches terrible chemicals into the
soil, devastating our planet. It is appalling to me that 25 years later, we still have ANYONE using such a
product. To live in a place where our trash so immediately gets into the ocean, and fills the stomaches of dead
sea life, we cannot wait another moment to ban this devastating product.
Please, for the Aina, for the Wai, for the Keiki. What we do today matters to how we live tomorrow.
With Aloha,
Katy Benjamin
