Council Meeting: June 2, 2016, 9:00 am, Hilo
I am fully supporting bill 140 because it pertains to the health and well being of the aina and the people. To ban
the use of Styrofoam containers rids us of a growing menace which has been cheaply placed into our
society. Most businesses go cheap because they can, but need to be reminded of their kuleana(to the land&to
each other).
Bill 140 is a practical solution to this menace in the Pacific, with Hawaii taking the lead.
There are alternatives which some food vendors already offer customers, with a clean conscience, knowing they
are not passing along a cancer causing container.
Implementing bill 140 will also support the island's full composting facility by lessening the amount of
contaminants in the waste stream.
