Aloha Council Members-
I'd like to submit testimony in support of Bill 140 Draft 2 which will be discussed at the June 3, 2016 meeting at
9:00am in Hilo Hawaii.
I'd like to start with my genuine thanks for passing the plastic bag ban in Hawaii county. The big Island is a
leader in the state for cutting down on plastics. I'd like to continue those efforts by banning Expanded
Polystyrene Foam for prepared foods. The styrofoam clam shells have got to go. They end up in our oceans
and pollute our beach parks. A better alternative would be use of compostable or recyclable food containers.
