RE: Resolution Acknowledging t Toddler Park at the
Kailua-Kona Old Airport as Menehune Playground
Attached for your review and consideration is a resolution
received from Kevin Rohan representing the West Hawaii Kiwanis
Club and the Parents for Parks committee, regarding the naming
of the Kailua-Kona Old Airport. toddler playground park. They
are asking that the Mayor acknowledge by ordinance, the name of
the park as Menehune Playground. Article 8, section 15-67 part
(2) (C) indicates that the playground can be given a name in
the Hawaiian language which describes its site. Toddlers
Playground is described as Menehune Playground which also
depicts the cultural aspect.
I would appreciate your placing this on the next Human Services
and Public Works Committee agenda.
