ORDINANCE NO. 16 64
AN ORDINANCE AMENDING CHAPTER 24,ARTICLE 10, DIVISION 1,
SECTION 24-255 AND SECTION 24-257 OF THE HAWAII COUNTY CODE 1983 (2005
EDITION,AS AMENDED), RELATING TO SPEED LIMITS.
BE IT ORDAINED BY THE COUNCIL OF THE COUNTY OF HAWAII:
SECTION 1. The purpose of this amendment is to allow for the increase of the existing
25 miles per hour speed limit to 35 miles per hour on Ainaloa Boulevard, pursuant to a traffic
study that justified the revisions.
SECTION 2. Chapter 24, article 10, division 1, section 24-255, schedule 3, 25 mile per
hour limit, subsection (g) of the Hawai`i County Code 1983 (2005 edition, as amended), is
amended by deleting item 1 and renumbering as required:
[(1) Ainaloa Boulevard, from Highway 130 to Stardust Drive.]
SECTION 3. Chapter 24, article 10, division 1, section 24-257, schedule 5, 35
mile per hour limit, subsection (g) of the Hawai`i County Code 1983 (2005 edition, as
amended), is amended by adding the new item below and renumbering as required:
( ) Ainaloa Boulevard, from Highway 130 to Stardust Drive.
SECTION 4. Material to be repealed is bracketed and stricken. New material is
underscored. In printing this ordinance, the brackets, bracketed and stricken material and
underscoring need not be included.

SECTION 5. Severability. If any provision of this ordinance, or the application
thereof to any person or circumstance, is held invalid, such invalidity shall not affect
other provisions or applications of the ordinance which can be given effect without the
invalid provision or application, and to this end, the provisions of this ordinance are
declared to be severable
SECTION 6. This ordinance shall take effect upon its approval.
