RESOLUTION NO. 543 16
RESOLUTION AUTHORIZING THE ACCEPTANCE OF THE DONATION
OF AUTOMATIC ELECTRONIC DEFIBRILLATORS FROM THE HILO
MEDICAL CENTER FOUNDATION, FOR USE BY THE HAWAII COUNTY
POLICE DEPARTMENT
WHEREAS, the Hilo Medical Center Foundation is donating thirty-three (33)
automatic electronic defibrillators (AEDs); and
WHEREAS, this equipment, with an estimated value of approximately $50,000,
will be utilized by the Hawaii County Police Department; and
WHEREAS, Article XIII, Section 13-12, of the Hawaii County Charter provides
that the Council, on behalf of the County, may accept gifts of donations of money,
securities or other personal property or of real estate or any interest in real estate, and
Chapter 2, Article 30, Section 2-162 (a) of the Hawaii County Code states that any gifts
or donations of money, securities, or personal property which fall within the
capitalization procedures of the Department of Finance, may be accepted by resolution
approved by the Council; and
WHEREAS, the Hawaii County Police Department recommends the acceptance
of this donation; now, therefore,
BE IT RESOLVED BY THE COUNCIL OF THE COUNTY OF HAWAII that in
accordance with Article XIII, Section 13-12, of the Hawaii County Charter, and Chapter
2, Article 30, Section 2-162(a) of the Hawai'i County Code, the Council of the County of
Hawaii accepts this donation.
BE IT FINALLY RESOLVED that a letter of appreciation and a copy of this
resolution be sent to the Hilo Medical Center Foundation, c/o Lisa Rantz, Executive
Director, 1190 Waianuenue Avenue, Hilo, Hawaii 96720, acknowledging this generous
donation.
