RESOLUTION NO. 550 16
A RESOLUTION TRANSFERRING/APPROPRIATING AN APPROPRIATION OUT
AND FROM A DESIGNATED FUND ACCOUNT AND CREDITING SAME TO A
DESIGNATED FUND ACCOUNT TO PROVIDE A GRANT TO THE HAWAII LGBT
LEGACY FOUNDATION FOR A REIMBURSEMENT OF EXPENSES RELATED TO
THE FOURTH ANNUAL LGBT PRIDE PARADE AND FESTIVAL.
WHEREAS, the Hawai`i LGBT Legacy Foundation is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit
organization that supports, empowers, unifies, and facilitates lesbian, gay, bisexual, and
transgender (LGBT) organizations and individuals in Hawai`i; and
WHEREAS, Hawai`i Island Pride, a project of the Hawai`i LGBT Legacy Foundation,
will be conducting its Fourth Annual LGBT Pride Parade and Festival on July 9, 2016, in Hilo at
the bandstand at Mo`oheau Park, featuring live entertainment, food, crafts from local merchants,
and informational booths from community groups; and
WHEREAS, the Hawai`i LGBT Legacy Foundation requests reimbursement of the cost
for special-duty police officers who will provide traffic control and security at this event and for
other costs directly related to the parade, such as permits, cleanup fees, and materials; and
WHEREAS,pursuant to Section 2-139(a)(2)(A) of the Hawai`i County Code,
Contingency Relief funds shall be transferred to an accepting County department/agency via
resolution identifying the nonprofit organization and the specific program, project, event,
activity, service, equipment, materials, or supplies for which the grant shall be used; and
WHEREAS, Contingency Relief funds from Council District 4 will be appropriated to
the Department of Parks and Recreation to provide a grant to the Hawai`i LGBT Legacy
Foundation to provide a reimbursement of expenses related to the Fourth Annual LGBT Pride
Parade and Festival; now, therefore,
BE IT RESOLVED BY THE COUNCIL OF THE COUNTY OF HAWAII that the
following amount is hereby transferred/appropriated as set forth below:

BE IT FINALLY RESOLVED that the County Clerk shall transmit a copy of this
resolution to the Director of Parks and Recreation and Director of Finance, and that the Director
of Finance is hereby authorized to make the necessary transfers in accordance with the terms of
this resolution.
