RESOLUTION NO. 551 16
A RESOLUTION TRANSFERRING/APPROPRIATING AN APPROPRIATION OUT
AND FROM A DESIGNATED FUND ACCOUNT AND CREDITING SAME TO A
DESIGNATED FUND ACCOUNT TO PROVIDE A GRANT TO FRIENDS OF THE
FUTURE FOR THE 2016 HAWAII ISLAND WOMEN'S LEADERSHIP FORUM.
WHEREAS, the Office of the Prosecuting Attorney oversees the Committee on the
Status of Women, and one of the goals of this Committee is to promote women's participation in
public and private sectors; and
WHEREAS, Friends of the Future is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization whose mission is
to facilitate a vision of lokahi, "harmony and balance," among the diverse peoples of Hawai`i
and encouraging each person to contribute their deepest values, to create shared visions, and to
continuously improve our communities; and
WHEREAS, Friends of the Future will partner with the Office of the Prosecuting
Attorney to support the 2016 Hawai`i Island Women's Leadership Forum that will be held on
August 26, 2016, at the Hilton Waikoloa Village; and
WHEREAS, the Hawai`i Island Women's Leadership Forum will help advance and
celebrate the value of women in our society, cultivate relationships for networking, and move the
conversation forward to develop women leaders locally; and
WHEREAS, themes that will be present throughout all components of the forum include
business, community, diversity, finance, leadership, relationships, self, and innovation and
technology; and
WHEREAS, the objective of the forum is to strengthen women by providing real tools
for real life, thereby empowering and advancing themselves, their relationships,their careers,
and their community; and
WHEREAS, pursuant to Section 2-139(a)(2)(A) of the Hawai`i County Code,
Contingency Relief funds shall be transferred to an accepting County department/agency via
resolution identifying the nonprofit organization and the specific program, project, event,
activity, service, equipment, materials, or supplies for which the grant shall be used; and
WHEREAS, Contingency Relief funds from Council District 1 will be appropriated to
the Office of the Prosecuting Attorney to provide a grant to Friends of the Future for the facility
rental for the 2016 Hawai`i Island Women's Leadership Forum; now, therefore,
BE IT RESOLVED BY THE COUNCIL OF THE COUNTY OF HAWAII that the
following amount is hereby transferred/appropriated as set forth below:

BE IT FINALLY RESOLVED that the County Clerk shall transmit a copy of this
resolution to the Prosecuting Attorney and the Director of Finance, and that the Director of
Finance is hereby authorized to make the necessary transfers in accordance with the terms of this
resolution.
