Your Committee on Planning, to which was referred Bill No. 214, reports as follows:
Bill No. 214, transmitted by Mayor William P. Kenoi via Communication No. 906 dated May 26, 2016,
amends section 25-8-33 (City of Hilo Zone Map), article 8, chapter 25 (Zoning Code) of the Hawaii
County Code 1983 (2005 Edition, as amended) by changing the district classification from Agricultural-
Three Acres (A-3a) to Family Agricultural-One Acre (FA-la) at Waiakea Homesteads 2nd, Waiakea,
South Hilo, Hawaii, covered by Tax Map Key: 2-4-034:044. The applicant is Chris Brilhante, and the
subject parcel covers 3.5876 acres.
The applicant is requesting the change of zone to subdivide the property into three lots. The applicant
has stated that the lots are intended to be conveyed to members of his family.
The Windward Planning Commission, at its duly held public hearing on May 5, 2016, provided a
favorable recommendation of this item.
Mr. Onishi stated that this parcel is located in his district,that he received no negative comments on it
from the public, and that he asks for support. There was no further discussion.
Your Committee on Planning is in accord with the purpose and intent of Bill No. 214, and recommends
passage on first reading.
