Re: Resolution Changing Funding Source
With the funding of the Community Policing grant ending on May 15, 1999,
four police officer positions are in jeopardy of being terminated. Because of the
tremendous success of this program, we are enclosing a resolution to continue
the funding of these police officer positions with County funds.

B. BACKGROUND AND_JUSTIFICATION FUSE ADDITIONAL SHEETS AS NEEDED:
The U.S. Department of Justice Office of Community Oriented Policing
Services (COPS) is providing a grant to hire four (4) community
policing officers for a period of three years. The grant funding of
these positions will end on May 15, 1999.
These positions have greatly impacted various communities throughout
the County. The progress these officers have made in the communities
will be lost if not continued.
