Dear Chairman Kanuha and Council Members:
It is my pleasure to nominate Mrs. Florence K. Ikeda, of Council District 2 to the Hawai'i
County Salary Commission. Mrs. Ikeda is a 60-year resident of Hawai'i. In 2005, she
retired from the State of Hawaii Department of Education where she was employed as
a School Administrative Services Assistant. Mrs. Ikeda returned to work for the DOE on
contract from 2006 - 2009.
Her community service includes past membership with the Ke Ana Lahana Public
Charter School, past secretary of Kaumana School PTA, and past State President of
the Hawaii School Office Services Association. She is presently a member of the Holy
Apostles Church. Mrs. Ikeda states that she is a member of the Democratic Party. If
confirmed, she will fill a vacant term to end on December 31, 2020.
